![]() Treat Pensacola, New Orleans, and Indianapolis accordingly. The first four classes of US 203mm armed ships only "became" CAs because of the London Naval Treaty, which came into effect while the first three of the New Orleans class were under construction- nothing about the ships changed as a result, other than their classification. Think of it this way: with the sole exception of USS Wichita, all of the USN's inter-war cruisers were CLs, some of which had larger-than-average guns. I'm sure that the NO isn't bad, it's just that I dislike getting matched with T9s and my first impressions of it is very bad compared to me playing DDs for the first time. Yeah I've learned some of this stuff through my fun grind with the Pensacola, so I'll stick to just grinding with it and getting adjusted to it so by the time I get Salem I can earn credits in T10. Your probably not going to learn them all in your time with the New Orleans, hell you might not learn them all by the time you reach the Des Moines if it is your first time playing cruisers. I could go on but these are just the basic things you need to be able to do or think about when you play most cruisers and developing the awareness of doing these things just takes time and many 100s of battles. Get Priority Target and be aware how many ships are looking at you, use this as an indicator on when to go change speed, angle and/or go dark. For example, most BBs take 30 second to fire, so you have 30 seconds once they fire to give broadside or whatever other maneuver you need to make. Memorize or at least be aware of the enemy reload times. Be prepared to use you WASD keys to adjust your position and speed relative to where the enemy is aiming when they fire their guns. Never allow your broadside to be open to the enemy unless you know for sure no one is shooting at you. Use your high shell arcs to fire over islands. Pay attention on where the enemy is going and where you will be in relation to them. Pay attention to where the enemies guns are facing. Be aware of the position of all enemy ships. Also you just need to learn how to cruiser in general which involves tons and tons of things, much of it involving situational awareness. The AP is very good and you can start some mean fires with the HE, you just need to be mindful of not presenting your broadside to the enemy if you can help it. To be honest, it isn't that bad of a ship. ![]()
